Gaudí under a winter sky. Four days of timed tickets, Gothic alleys, and a waterfront that reminds you this is still a port.
Barcelona captured me in the stone that refuses a right angle, then in the streets that still do. The Sagrada is loud. The Gothic Quarter is quieter than the posters. Walking Port Vell at dusk — that’s what stayed, not the slogan.
Every tagged stop is on the map. All pins shows them together — tap a name to zoom in. Each popup opens the same place in Google Maps.
Timed Gaudí, a paella rule, and a metro that actually covers the city.
Book the towers if you want the climb. The interior light is the thing the posters cannot hold.
Monumental zone is a ticket. The rest of the park is a hill. Go early. The city view is the souvenir.
La Pedrera. The roof if you like chimneys that look like helmets. The Block of Discord is a walk down Passeig de Gràcia.
Barcelona Cathedral, not the Sagrada. Cloister, choir, a different century. Often kinder on the queue.
No ticket. Alleys, Plaça Reial, a cathedral square. This is where the city still talks to itself.
Walk the rambla de mar. Columbus is a pin, not a pilgrimage. The water is the point.

Walk upOnly if the kitchen is Valencian-honest — or at least not a frozen pan for fourteen euros on La Rambla. Ask. Leave if they say yes too fast.

€3–8Bread, tomato, oil, salt. Breakfast that does not pretend.
Not crème brûlée with a passport. Burnt sugar, citrus if they care.
Noon, a tapas bar, a slice of orange. The city’s actual pause.
With chocolate thick enough to argue with. A late night, not a breakfast flex.
€4–7Gaudí interiors: weeks ahead in spring and summer. Eixample hotels cost the grid. 6–8 weeks for April–June and September.
Eixample — Gaudí on the way home. Gothic / Born — alleys, noise, walkability. Gràcia — plazas, kinder nights. Barceloneta if you want the beach more than sleep.
Metro, not a taxi from the airport unless the hour is unkind. Menú del día at lunch. Skip the hotel that faces the Sagrada unless you like bells.
15–22°C, terraces, a city that is still itself. Peak Gaudí crowds. Still the easiest Barcelona to like.
Hot, beach, late light. Hide at noon. The Gothic Quarter holds the heat.
The other window. Warm sea, fewer packages. I would go back in October.
Mild winters, empty-ish parks, a Sagrada without the full crush. Pack a layer.
The Gothic Quarter and the waterfront are a pedestrian day. Eixample blocks are longer than they look.

Park Güell is a timed garden with a view. The bench is a mosaic. The city below looks almost reasonable from up here.

The Gothic Quarter is a grid that gave up. Plazas, a guitar, laundry. Get lost. That is the activity.

Wooden walkways, masts, the Mediterranean pretending to be a park. I walked until the city felt like a coast again.
Four days is a first draft. These are the rooms I didn’t get into — the ones I’d book first if I went back tomorrow.
The other Gaudí on the block. I did the street. The interior is the one people mean.
