Perge’s columns in hard sun, a stadium that still has a wall, Hadrian’s three arches, Kaleiçi alleys with a flag over them, and a marina that still works. Antalya is a coast that learned a Roman city and then a harbor.
3Days
12+Miles walked
7Places that stuck
Not a resort brochure. A harbor with a Roman gate.
I came for the water. I stayed for Perge — a colonnade you sit in, ruins you walk, a stadium outside the walls. Then Kaleiçi: Hadrian’s Gate, timber houses, streets that fill with tables after dark. The marina is boats and cliff houses. The sea is rocks. Three days is a first draft of a city that is both an old town and a coast.
Where I actually walked.
Every tagged stop is on the map. All pins shows them together — tap a name to zoom in. Each popup opens the same place in Google Maps.
A ticket for Perge that is not a parking-lot tour, a gate you walk through for free, and a visa that is not Schengen.
🏛️ Perge columns
A colonnade that still stands. You sit on the step and the pillars keep the sun honest. This is the photograph people mean when they say Perge.
🧱 Perge ruins
Towers at the gate, a street you walk, carved stones at the entrance. The city is larger than the colonnade. Wear the heat like a ticket.
🏟️ Perge stadium
Outside the walls. A long stone oval. I leaned on the masonry. The seats are a different sentence than the columns.
⚓ Harbor / marina
The old marina under the cliff houses. Fishing boats, a yacht, a boat ride that leaves from the same water. Kaleiçi drops into it.
🌊 The rocks
Mediterranean against stone, not a hotel pool. A short walk from the old town if the path is open.
🚪 Hadrian’s Gate
Three arches. The Roman door into Kaleiçi. Free. The square in front is the waiting room.
🏘️ Kaleiçi streets
Timber houses, a flag over an alley, tables after dark. The old town is the rest of the day once Perge is done.
🎫 Perge
Official archaeological-site ticket. Not a man at the parking lot with a laminated sheet. The theater has been closed for restoration — check the booth.
Antalya Airport (AYT), then a transfer into Kaleiçi or Lara. Perge is east, toward Aksu — a taxi or a tour, not a stroll from the gate.
Flight + transfer
🥗 Piyaz
Antalya’s white-bean salad with tahini. A local plate, not a side. Ask for it where the kitchen is doing beans, not a garnish.
TRY
🐟 Harbor fish
The marina restaurants will try. The water is the view. The fish has to be the work. Ask the price before it hits the grill.
TRY
🍢 Şiş
Meat, fire, bread. Kaleiçi at night is tables in the street. This is the evening after Perge’s dust.
TRY
🫓 Gözleme
Stuffed flatbread, made in front of you. Lunch that does not need a white tablecloth.
TRY
🍦 Dondurma
The stretchy ice cream the vendors perform. Eat it. The show is optional.
TRY
🫖 Çay
Tea is not a course. It is the pause after the harbor stairs.
TRY
🏘️ Kaleiçi
Walk to the gate, the marina, the night tables. A pension in the old town is the practical base. Stairs, stone, a courtyard if you are lucky.
🏖️ Lara / Konyaaltı
The resort strip. Beach, a shuttle, a different city. I would try it only if Kaleiçi already felt small.
💶 Spend less
Prices are in lira. A marina table can eat the day. Perge is the line item that is worth it. The alleys are cheap once you have a room.
🌸 April–June
The coast behaves. Perge is hot by noon anyway. One of the two windows.
☀️ July–August
Mediterranean heat. Walk Perge at opening. Hide at noon. The marina still works after dark.
🍂 September–October
The other window. Softer sea, fewer day-trippers if you are lucky.
❄️ November–March
Milder than Cappadocia, still a coat at night. Some boat desks close. The old town does not.
🚶 Walk Kaleiçi
The old town is the transit. Hadrian’s Gate to the marina is stairs and stone. Shoes that forgive both.
🚕 Taxi to Perge
East, toward Aksu. Agree the price or use a meter app. The site is not a city-center stroll.
🚌 Tram / bus
Antalya has a tram. Useful for the museum and the airport corridor. Kaleiçi is still walking.
⛵ Marina boat
A short ride from the old harbor. Agree the fare. The coastline is the point, not the microphone.
🚗 Rental car
Useful if you want Aspendos and Termessos without a group. Parking in Kaleiçi is a mood.

Important: General guidance only. e-Visa eligibility and fees change. Verify with evisa.gov.tr and the Turkish MFA before you pay anyone else.
Still entering Türkiye — not US domestic travel. H-1B, H-4, or OPT does not change the Indian-passport e-Visa. Confirm evisa.gov.tr for your passport, and keep US re-entry documents valid.

What stayed on the roll.
Seven chapters. Perge’s pillars, the ruins, the stadium outside the walls, the harbor and a boat, the rocks, Hadrian’s Gate, and Kaleiçi streets that kept the timber.

Pillars that still do the work
Perge’s colonnade is a room without a roof. I sat on the step between the drums. The stone is pale, the sky is a hard blue, and the columns keep choosing to stand. This is the ancient city in one photograph — then you have to walk the rest.

02 / 07
Ruins, a gate, a walk
The towers at the entrance are the first honest scale. Carved stones, a wall, a street you walk like the Romans left the paving. I found shade on a stair between two round towers. Perge is not one colonnade. It is a city that emptied and kept the masonry.

The stadium outside the walls
The filename said oustide. The stadium is outside. A long oval of stone. I leaned on the wall. The seats are a different grammar than the pillars — this is where a crowd used to sit, and now the grass does.

Harbor, marina, a boat
The old marina under the cliff. Fishing boats named like people. A yacht that paid more. I took a boat that left from the same water. Kaleiçi is above it. The harbor is the city’s handshake with the sea.
01 / 02
05 / 07
Rocks, then the Mediterranean
Not the hotel pool. Stone in the water, a cliff with pines, a horizon that does not negotiate. I photographed it because the marina is boats and this is the sea without a dock.

06 / 07
Hadrian’s three arches
The gate is how Kaleiçi still says Roman. Three arches, marble that got cleaned, a square that collects everyone. I stood in front of it in a dress that was not marble. The old town starts on the other side.
01 / 05
07 / 07
Kaleiçi, timber and a flag
Ottoman houses that kept the wood. Streets that fill with tables after dark. A Turkish flag hung over an alley like a ceiling. This is the town you sleep in if you came for the harbor and stayed for the gate.
Still on the list.
Three days is a first draft. These are the rooms I didn’t get into — the ones I’d book first if I went back tomorrow.
🎭 Aspendos
The theater everyone names after Perge. I did the colonnade. The acoustics are the ticket I would buy on a second pass.
🏛️ Antalya Museum
Perge’s sculptures live indoors. I walked the ruins. The museum is the catalog I skipped in the heat.
⛰️ Termessos
A Pisidian city in the hills. A climb. Too far for the Kaleiçi loop I ran.
💧 Düden
A waterfall into the sea. I photographed rocks instead. Next time, the drop.
🏖️ Konyaaltı at a swimming hour
I did the marina and the rocks. A long pebble beach is a different day.
⛵ A longer boat
I rode from the marina. Kekova and the sunken city are a different fare and a different morning.
If you have a fourth day.
The coast is larger than Kaleiçi’s postcard. These are the leaves that actually fit.
🎭 Aspendos
East of Perge. The theater. Official ticket. Combine with Perge only if you start at opening.
Half day · taxi or tour
🏖️ Side
Another Roman town on the water. A longer drive. Only if Kaleiçi already felt small.
Day · tour
⛵ Kekova / Demre
A boat over a sunken city, a different province. Not a stroll from Hadrian’s Gate.
