Perge’s columns in hard sun, a stadium that still has a wall, Hadrian’s three arches, Kaleiçi alleys with a flag over them, and a marina that still works. Antalya is a coast that learned a Roman city and then a harbor.
I came for the water. I stayed for Perge — a colonnade you sit in, ruins you walk, a stadium outside the walls. Then Kaleiçi: Hadrian’s Gate, timber houses, streets that fill with tables after dark. The marina is boats and cliff houses. The sea is rocks. Three days is a first draft of a city that is both an old town and a coast.

A ticket for Perge that is not a parking-lot tour, a gate you walk through for free, and a visa that is not Schengen.
A colonnade that still stands. You sit on the step and the pillars keep the sun honest. This is the photograph people mean when they say Perge.
Towers at the gate, a street you walk, carved stones at the entrance. The city is larger than the colonnade. Wear the heat like a ticket.
Outside the walls. A long stone oval. I leaned on the masonry. The seats are a different sentence than the columns.
The old marina under the cliff houses. Fishing boats, a yacht, a boat ride that leaves from the same water. Kaleiçi drops into it.
Mediterranean against stone, not a hotel pool. A short walk from the old town if the path is open.
Three arches. The Roman door into Kaleiçi. Free. The square in front is the waiting room.
Timber houses, a flag over an alley, tables after dark. The old town is the rest of the day once Perge is done.
Official archaeological-site ticket. Not a man at the parking lot with a laminated sheet. The theater has been closed for restoration — check the booth.

Walk upThe theater everyone names after Perge. A different site, a different ticket. I didn’t go. Official museums, not a tour vest.

TRYThe marina restaurants will try. The water is the view. The fish has to be the work. Ask the price before it hits the grill.
TRYMeat, fire, bread. Kaleiçi at night is tables in the street. This is the evening after Perge’s dust.

TRYWalk to the gate, the marina, the night tables. A pension in the old town is the practical base. Stairs, stone, a courtyard if you are lucky.
The resort strip. Beach, a shuttle, a different city. I would try it only if Kaleiçi already felt small.
Prices are in lira. A marina table can eat the day. Perge is the line item that is worth it. The alleys are cheap once you have a room.
The coast behaves. Perge is hot by noon anyway. One of the two windows.
Mediterranean heat. Walk Perge at opening. Hide at noon. The marina still works after dark.
The other window. Softer sea, fewer day-trippers if you are lucky.
Milder than Cappadocia, still a coat at night. Some boat desks close. The old town does not.
The old town is the transit. Hadrian’s Gate to the marina is stairs and stone. Shoes that forgive both.
East, toward Aksu. Agree the price or use a meter app. The site is not a city-center stroll.
Antalya has a tram. Useful for the museum and the airport corridor. Kaleiçi is still walking.
A short ride from the old harbor. Agree the fare. The coastline is the point, not the microphone.
Useful if you want Aspendos and Termessos without a group. Parking in Kaleiçi is a mood.

Perge’s colonnade is a room without a roof. I sat on the step between the drums. The stone is pale, the sky is a hard blue, and the columns keep choosing to stand. This is the ancient city in one photograph — then you have to walk the rest.

The towers at the entrance are the first honest scale. Carved stones, a wall, a street you walk like the Romans left the paving. I found shade on a stair between two round towers. Perge is not one colonnade. It is a city that emptied and kept the masonry.

The filename said oustide. The stadium is outside. A long oval of stone. I leaned on the wall. The seats are a different grammar than the pillars — this is where a crowd used to sit, and now the grass does.

Three days is a first draft. These are the rooms I didn’t get into — the ones I’d book first if I went back tomorrow.
The theater everyone names after Perge. I did the colonnade. The acoustics are the ticket I would buy on a second pass.
Perge’s sculptures live indoors. I walked the ruins. The museum is the catalog I skipped in the heat.
